Laughter is the best medicine
Laughter truly is the best medicine. I learned this firsthand during one of the darkest periods of my life. Many years ago, I found myself reeling from a painful breakup, feeling like I had failed and lost confidence in myself. Moving into an apartment with roommates shortly after seemed like an unexpected twist of fate, but little did I know it would become my sanctuary of healing.
Initially, the thought of living with roommates after years of independence felt daunting. Yet, as I settled into our shared space, I discovered a sense of calm and peace that had eluded me in solitude. Evenings gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories and watching comedy shows, became the highlight of my day.
In those moments of shared laughter, I found solace and strength to navigate through my pain. The simple act of laughing with my roommates helped me see a glimmer of light in the darkness. During this time, I developed a deep appreciation for the power of comedy to uplift and heal.
Inspiration from Female Comedians
Inspired by my own journey, I began collecting inspirational quotes from female comedians who have mastered the art of finding humor in life's toughest moments. Their words serve as a reminder that laughter can be a powerful tool for resilience and self-discovery.
Joan Rivers once said, “Life is tough, darling. Life is hard. And we better laugh at everything; otherwise, we're going down the tube.” Her words ring true as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
Betty White reminds us, “It’s your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don’t take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.”
Each quote serves as a beacon of hope, a reminder to embrace life with humor and resilience. In their words, I find strength to face whatever challenges come my way with grace and dignity.
Power of Laughter
As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the transformative power of laughter. It has the ability to mend broken hearts, lift spirits, and remind us that even in the darkest of times, there is always a reason to smile.
So here's to laughter—the best medicine for the soul. May we never underestimate its power to heal, inspire, and unite us in our shared humanity.

“When faced with sexism or ageism or lookism or even really aggressive Buddhism, ask yourself the following question: ‘Is this person in between me and what I want to do?’ If the answer is no, ignore it and move on. “Survival is not so much about the body, but rather it is about the triumph of the human spirit.” – Danitra Vance
To Remind You That You Are Amazing
“I will speak and share and fuck and love and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it. I stand here and I am amazing, for you. Not because of you. I am not who I sleep with. I am not my weight. I am not my mother. I am myself. And I am all of you, and I thank you.” – Amy Schumer
“You don't have to be in the brightest, shiniest state of being an individual to feel like you're exceptional.” – Jenny Slate
“We’re born with success. It is only others who point out our failures, and what they attribute to us as failure. I think the idea that you know who your inner self is on a daily basis, because you know. What’s good for you 25 years ago may not be good for you now. So, to keep in touch with that, I think that’s the first ingredient for success. Because if you’re a successful human being, everything else is gravy, I think.” – Whoopi Goldberg
